Publishing

In the 1990's, the Principal of PingerWare worked closely with Elsevier Scientific Publishers in The Netherlands to implement an online scientific paper submission and reciew system. The earliest systems were proof of concept tests and to learn more about the adoption rate by scientists. Later systems were implemented across the company and across several scientific journals.

Launched in the late 1990's, these systems were the first worldwide to use fully electronic submission, review, edit and publish automation for the life sciences. Using Elsevier's web servers, scientific papers were submitted, reviewed and pubished within 10 days! Compare that to some traditional editorial systems that took up to one year for the paper to appear in print. These systems served as the models for many scientific journals from other pubishers that were anxious to share the same benefits.
